Review of Fat Girl by Romance Novels In Color
This is my first story by this author. This is Deeana Chase (“Dee”) and Micah Peters’ story.
The first part of their story is all about Dee and Micah having broken lives and coming from backgrounds that were filled with suffering, either emotional or physical pain.
Dee is a curvy woman who has big women insecurities and secrets which she has not shared with anyone. Being with Micah heightens her body issues because he is such an attractive man and she cannot understand why he wants to be with her. Micah is your typical good looking ladies’ man who has sowed his wild oats!
The couple falls in love and keeps their relationship a secret from their families, friends and the whole world. Then Dee makes a discovery that she needs to share with Micah but is filled with indecision because she does not want to disappoint her foster parents or have history repeat itself for Micah. Before she can share this secret with Micah she sees him in an act of betrayal. So Dee leaves her foster family and Micah with no explanation.
After not seeing each other for 15 years they meet again because Micah wants Dee to take a case which will ultimately expose her to the family she ran away from with no explanation. The fireworks begin here. The bitterness, recriminations, resentments and feelings of betrayal, as well as sexual tension explode in all directions whilst they both try to maintain some measure of control over their emotions because of the child, whom they both want to help.
The second part of the story is all about how Dee still has to deal with her body image issues, binge eating, low self-esteem and being exposed to Micah’s fame and dealing with the potential media exposure of being a big woman in a relationship with a good looking, famous man.
Micah does not want to lose Dee again or give her any excuses not to be with him after finding her again after 15 painful years without her. So he tries his best to shield her identity from the press.
The story is captivating from page 1, the author draws you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting to find out what happens next. The story is a real page turner that you don’t want to put down. I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait to find out what happens in book 2. There are still some unanswered questions that need to be answered!
I would highly recommend this book.
